Once you receive your offer of admission, there are some important things you need to do before September. If you have questions, attend an upcoming event or contact our recruitment team.
✔ Accept your offer in your JOIN U of T portal no later than the deadline listed in your offer letter.
✔ If you are an international student, pay your admission deposit and learn about the study permit application process.
✔ If you are a transfer student, find out if you are required to apply for transfer credit.
✔ Consider applying to a First-Year Foundations Ones Program. Exclusive to first-year students, Ones programs combine small-group, theme-based courses with events and activities. Some require an application as early as March.
✔ If you plan to live in residence, submit a residence application by March 31 to maintain the first-year residence guarantee.
✔ Pay your admission deposit if required. Refer to your offer letter in your JOIN U of T portal to find out if and when you are required to pay an admission deposit.
✔ Add @utoronto.ca to your email safe senders list. You will receive emails over the summer about orientation events, advising sessions and programs like Arrive Ready to help you prepare for first year.
✔ If you are a first-year student, apply for an optional First-Year Learning Community (FLC). FLCs are small groups of students registered in the same courses who meet regularly throughout the school year. Applications will open in Summer 2025.
✔ If you applied for residence, you will receive a residence placement via email in June, July or August. Accept your residence placement and pay your residence fees by the deadline listed in the email.
✔ Activate your UTORid and get your TCard to access online and in-person student services.
✔ Submit any outstanding required documents, such as final transcripts, to meet your admission conditions. Refer to your offer letter in your JOIN U of T portal for specific deadlines and submission instructions.
✔ Find your course enrolment start time in ACORN in early July.
✔ Start enrolling in courses through ACORN at your assigned start time in late July. If you are a transfer student and do not have a transfer credit assessment, you can and should enrol in courses at your assigned start date and time.
✔ If applicable, register for Accessibility Services by submitting an intake package before the deadline (typically mid-July). Accessibility Services helps students who have a disability, injury or mental health challenge navigate barriers to their academic success.
✔ Pay or defer your fees. After you enrol in courses, you will be able to view your tuition fee invoice in ACORN. Complete your registration by making a payment or obtaining a tuition deferral (registering without payment) by the posted deadlines.
- Note for Indigenous students: You may be eligible for U of T’s Indigenous Tuition Initiative.
